I created Six Blue Petals, because, sometimes, life is hard. I often catch myself saying: “Life’s tough – get a helmet!” (Thank you Boy Meets World). I do think, however, that life can be a little more bearable if, instead of getting a helmet and taking cover when times are tough, we remind ourselves of the little things that make each of our lives special and unique in its own way. It’s so easy to lose sight of the truly important aspects of life and to get caught up in all the petty drama and monotony of day-to-day tasks. We forget how lucky we are to live the lives we live. We all have problems – big, medium, small, and enormous – but, each day, we keep on chugging along and we move through life with more knowledge than we had the day before. If we have even one thing to be grateful for, it is that we wake up every morning armed with the ability to create our day’s destiny and determine our individual choices. Some days, we’ll make the wrong choices; but other days, we’ll be right on the money. Some days, we’ll make the wrong choices, but luck will be on our side. Other days, we’ll be up a creek with no paddle (hopefully we’ll have a life vest!), and we’ll have to adapt accordingly. The algorithm of life is quite a conundrum – the true algorithm is that there is no algorithm – we just have to keep on living.
When life is hard, and you are stressed, hopeless, dejected, and feel just plain crummy, I want you to visit this blog and spend a few minutes, seconds even, reminiscing about something that makes you happy – something that makes life worth living. And if you are so down and out that you can’t even think about it, take a look around at all the quotes, posts, pictures, lists, etc. for some words of wisdom and facets of inspiration. This blog is for you. It’s to give you some time to clear your head and remember that even when you think the world is going to end, it’s not. When life no longer seems worth living, it is. When you think the whole world is turned against you, there is someone always there – you, and more than likely, there is another person out there who will also stand with you.
We should all stand strong and support each other, because no matter how different we all are (which is so wonderful!), we are all women and we have that exceptional bond between us. So please feel free to read, contribute to, and share this blog amongst your sisters, friends, cousins, coworkers, neighbors, etc. Six Blue Petals exists to remind us to appreciate this short time we have on earth and to comfort us in times of trouble. So turn that frown upside down and start reminiscing, smiling, laughing, exclaiming, and jumping for joy! Yes, life is tough, and we may want a helmet to get us through the hard times, but as Hans Christian Anderson so wisely said: “Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” Discover your sunshine, relish in your freedom, and be sure to take some time to smell the roses.
